Lately I've been posting a "Weekly Recap" on Fridays or Saturdays, and I got a lot of positive feeback from readers about that feature, but they're quite laborious posts to put out there and what with all the writing I'm doing, I thought my other new feature, which is my "Most Recent Posts" column should suffice for now. In the meantime, Shelly sent me this meme and of course I couldn't resist posting it asap. I loved the questions right from the get-go, but then I worried that this exercise might prove a little bit too revealing. Let's just say this is the PG version and leave it at that for now.
Name six guilty pleasures no one would suspect you of having (does it have to be only six?):
1. I like to eat breakfast cereal or fruit that takes time to eat, like pomegranates or grapefruits, while standing up over my prep table in the kitchen - morning, noon or night.
2. I'm fascinated with tin boxes. I can rarely part with them so I use them to store stuff, but many of them still remain empty. I just like seeing them and knowing they're there.
3. I like taking several cat naps in the day, and when I lie on the couch, my cat Fritz often comes to lay on top of me - that's really the best.
4. I like staying up till the wee hours of the morning. I get drunk with fatigue and everything seems that much more interesting. Then I have to sleep for the better part of the next day, hence the cat-naps with Fritz.
5. Skinny dipping in the ocean (preferably warm Caribbean waters) on the night of a full moon, all by myself. I look up to the sky and imagine I'm having a conversation with "her" (i.e. the moon) and that she is protecting me. When I tell this to people they say, "yeah but why do that alone? Wouldn't it be more fun with someone else?" nudge nudge, wink wink. I'm sure that would be nice, but not quite the same.
6. I like to buy a new item - a piece of clothing, a beauty product or high thread-count sheets... the more expensive the better, and then leave it in my cupboard with tags still attached for so long that I forget I even have it. Then when I find it it's a special treat all over again. Plus it makes me feel rich.
Name six guilty pleasures you wish you had the courage to indulge:
1. As far as guilty pleasures go, I've indulged most of them at this point. But I guess I could eat more chocolate if I truly didn't care about gaining weight.
2. Try acting.
3. Have six cats, three or four dogs, about as many horses, a few cows, a goat and several ducks. And chickens! For the eggs of course. A farm house would come in handy to indulge that one. Oh, and I'd have a pet hedgehog too, almost forgot that one.
4. Go dance in a nightclub on occasion. Because I used to go fairly often but now I have too many reasons not to.
5. Sing karaoke WITHOUT getting drunk first. I've never done it one way or another, and singing is not one of my greatest talents.
6. Tell people exactly what I think, all the time (could get scary).
Name six pleasures you once considered guilty but have now either abandoned or made peace with:
1. Buying the occasional (or not so occasional) tabloid. There's nothing wrong with junk food for the brain once in a while.
2. I've abandoned smoking pot, it just made me too stupid, not to mention constantly sleepy.
3. Eat cookies/have dessert. Sure it's not good for my waistline, but life is too short to deprive myself of all those wonderful sweets.
4. Blogging. Ok, I do get carried away with it sometimes, but may as well embrace it.
5. TV: no sense trying to cut back when I watch a lot of it, eventually I lose interest and move on to other things.
6. Keeping the best for last. There's nothing wrong with being a pleasure delayer.
Six fellow bloggers I am tagging for this meme:
1. To Kill a Mockingbird
2. Lee's River (yes, again!)
3. greeblemonkey
4. Loose Leaf Notes
5. One Little Acorn
6. Sarcomical

Surely you're not going to just tease us like that???
Michele sent me to suggest the x-rated version should appear too:-)

Oh boy!!! I am so exited! Thanks!
And "drunk with fatigue" - that is so me.
This is absolutely brilliant as a meme and your responses. The swimming in the Carribean alone under a full moon sounds courageous and transcendent. I love the little worm shaped as a six. I love your blog. This was an extremely fun post. Glad I didn't get tagged because I believe that pleasure is in short supply in my life. I tend to not let myself have much, and this is a reminder to try to change that.
breadbox: I just think there's something to be said for leaving some things to the imagination. Guess I'm old fashioned that way.
Aimee: I look forward to reading you answers too.
Tiv: what a glowing review, WOW! Well I can't take credit for how brilliant the questions are - but I was quite thrilled when Shelly sent them my way. I like the worm there too. Reminds me of when I was a little girl, one of my guilty pleasures was playing with earthworms. They were mostly cruel games, which is what made it especially 'guilty'. Though I don't think earthworms can actually feel pain. I hope.
Another good meme! It's so much fun for the readers when you let us take a peek, a little at a time. :)
(Speaking of memes, I forgot that I have to post a book review tomorrow, so the 4s will be up by Wednesday!! AND. It's a good thing, since I always have trouble coming up with decent answers) :D
this was fun reading. thanks for visiting my blog--think I'll look around a bit more.
I am one of the few that I know of who actually likes memes. Both doing them AND reading others. Like monty said, it is fun to get a peek into a strangers life.
Wow, that kind of sounded weird.
Anyway, I enjoyed your answers!
And, Michele sent me.
What, again????
ok, let's see now...read more soon on lee's river)
Okay, I can do this one! But I might just as well copy your answers because you sound so much like me, or me like you. It might take me some time to do, cause I'm slow...you know, all that late night pondering and daytime naps.
All your comments at LL took. It just takes a while. My automatic moderator is slower than I am at answering memes.
Colleen: take your time, there is no deadline on this one. Sorry about the billions of comments, you can erase the repeats of course. I just thought they were being bounced or smthg.
Mine will be my blog post for tomorrow. It'll be up a little later. I tend to not post until late, just before I run out of time!
This was interesting. I like peeking into the lives behind the monitor!
Scout - that's great, look forward to reading your answers, just don't forget to link back with me.
Mine is here. Somehow I linked to your blog but not to this particular post.
Here's my post:
